Nanchang Xiaolan Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in March 2002, became a provincial development zone in March 2006, and was upgraded to a national economic and technological development zone in July 2012. In just ten years, it has realized the rise in the desert, the growth in openness and opening-up, and the transformation in innovation and entrepreneurship, and is known as "the epitome of Jiangxi's exploration of catch-up with green rise". Xiaolan Economic Development Zone covers an area of 60.5 square kilometers, of which 59.1 square kilometers are planned and managed, implementing the development model of "one district with three parks". Outside the core area, there are three supporting industrial parks, including Xiangtang Logistics Park, Wuyang Small and medium-sized Enterprise Venture Park and Nanxin Binjiang Industrial Park.

It has the best government service system in the province and is one of the "Ten most valuable investment industrial parks in Jiangxi". The top-level design of a series of national strategies and regional development, such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone, the integration of Chang-Nine, the core growth pole, and Nanchang metropolitan Area, has given the small Blue Economic development Zone the initiative to try first and provide exclusive policy services for enterprises. There are first-class production and living facilities here. Jiulong Lake Area, the new site of the provincial Party Committee and the provincial government, and the development zone face each other across the river. The 22-square-kilometer Xianghu New City and the 6-square-kilometer Changnan Business District are integrated with the development zone, which can accommodate 350,000 people. A number of high-end service facilities such as New Hongcheng Big Market, the First Affiliated Courtyard of NTU, Elephant Lake Scenic Area, Changnan Sports Center and as many as 20 banks and financial institutions surround it, providing entrepreneurs with a comfortable working, living and leisure environment.
